We all like to get a bargain and save money but, when it comes to buying upholstery for family room or heavy use area, invest in better pieces. The difference is not only better quality fabric, but better construction you can’t see. The foundation and springs will hold its shape and comfort longer than a lesser quality piece.
You get what you pay for and this is evident over time.
Now, if needing to save money, consider purchasing upholstery (originally from a well known furniture manufacturer), at a consignment or thrift store. Check to see if springs don’t sink as you sit and cushions haven’t flattened, no stains or odor, then consider a slipcover over older, dated fabric. This will probably outlive the new cheaper quality sofa you saw at a local furniture store.
