Textures

When visiting a client’s home to provide ideas for change, I often see a variety of textures missing from their room. Textures are important to add depth and interest. For instance, in a family room you might have a nubby sofa. Add to that sofa with satin-look pillows, add a leather chair, a flat woven area rug, cotton draperies and a marble coffee table.

Think in terms of types of textures: Nubby, shiny, smooth, dull, woven. Mix it up in your room and see what a difference they’ll make.
